Asked for Jim, I said you have the wrong number! He said "Well, maybe you can help, we are taking donations for Fire and Police....." I interupted him, cut him off and said "YOU HAVE THE WRONG NUMBER" but he just kept on talking, trying to talk over me so I just hung up on him.

Spoke well, with the guise of our police are in danger, etc. Can he send me an envelope and would I pledge $20? I told him that I donate to my local police department, my bestie is an officer and I am very aware of our situation with police situation. He proceeded to tell me he wouldn't want to take from another district or area but all area are in need of help and immediate assistance. I asked him what area he was in and he told me from the West side...and I told him that I work on the west side and I gave him a couple of street names (east side) and he agreed. I knew he didn't have a clue as to what I was saying. I said thank you very much, good luck but I'll continue my local support. I hung up.

Support Stricter Police Protection Laws (Political call) reported by


I answered my cell phone and a man asks to speak with Dennis. (Dennis is not my name) Me: I told him I think he has the wrong number. Man Responds: Well maybe you can help me anyway and identifies himself as Jim. Jim: Starts to give me a short his short spiel on how numerous officers are being killed/injured in the line of duty and that tougher laws are needed to protect officers.... ...If I were to send you a letter how much could we count on you to support tougher police protection legislation? Me: I asked him what he specifically meant by tougher police protection laws? (Knowing full well that "Stricter Police Protection" is synonymous with "Stricter Gun Control". Something I am strongly opposed to.) Jim: Dodges my question and responds with a shortened version of what he just told me and again asks how much they could count on my support if they were to send me a letter. (Figuring if he is going to call me and share his political views the least I could do is share mine with him...) Me: I told him until I know what exactly I'm supporting, I can't tell you how much I could support it. Jim: (Most likely privy to my true intensions responds) "Umm, ok then you, you have a good day." Me: "Wait I want to know more." Jim: "You, you have a good day sir." Me: "Hold on. Jim....(Jim hangs up).
