PayPal charge (Scam call) reported by


Received recorded call just before 5 pm, indicating a $299 charge against my PayPal account, then rattled off number to call back (turns out it's the same as number shown on caller ID). Called back. India-accented male answered and described pending charge was for "computer protection services" (firewall, antivirus, etc). I advised that I already had identical protection through my ISP. He asked if I wanted to decline the service. When I said I didn't know what I was declining since I hadn't signed up for anything, he apparently figured I wasn't going to cooperate and hung up on me.

Said my card was being charged for renewal of a computer program. Needed to give them access to computer and make sure they had correct credit card number to cancel service if i no longer wanted it. I dont have a computer or credit card. Stupid scammers. Get a real job.

Yes this number is claiming to be from pay pal,and thy are claiming to be charging my card starting WITH 45...YA ALL VISA CARDS START WITH 45... 299.00,I have never dealt with or have any transactions with pay pal at all so will neglect them all together,it must be some sort of scam going on.

They say your card was charged for computer service and that they’re from the Geek Squat at Best Buy. They want you to go to the store to get them gift cards aka give them money. I was on the phone for a while just playing the guy lol but it is all a scam
