SCAM VERIZON CALL (Scam call) reported by


Robo call claiming to be from Verizon called saying that since I had been a customer for 24 months +, I could get a free gift card & free service for a few months. Asked me to Press 1 to continue & to enter my phone #. I did NOT enter my phone #, because obviously if it was VERIZON really calling ME, they would HAVE my phone # already. Also, it took about 2 seconds for my brain to think about Verizon & KNOW they wouldn't give FREE SERVICE as a promo, etc. I've just never heard of that, ever. Also, the "robo-voice" that was used was that weird, popular, woman robo voice- one I've heard numerous times but never from a business. I can't explain it any better...!

VERIZON SCAM (Robocall) reported by


Robocall stating Verizon was alerting me to "suspicious activity" on my Verizon account. Instructed me to "Press1" if I had not made any new orders on my account, "Press 2 to speak with a representative". I pressed 1. Robocall continued: "To confirm your account details, please enter your Zip Code." When I did not enter anything, the Robocall repeated the request three times before I hung up. In my experience, Verizon would contact account holders via email or text, typically instructing the account holder to follow a link to the Verizon website or telephone a legitimate and confirmable telephone number. Based on my experience (and many of the other comments posted on this site) this Robocall from (800) 225-5499 would appear to be a scam.

This has happened on two separate occasions, both after I ordered a new phone online from Verizon. I didn't answer this time because I remembered. Yes, they tell you your account is suspended. DO NOT ever give information to someone calling in to tell you that. you should know already because your phone won't work or through email notifications from your phone company. I am notifying Verizon of this second instance as it's obvious they have a leak in their account security, based on new phone orders.

I answered thinking it would be a call from my medical center. I got a male voice robocall telling me my Verizon account was suspended and to press a number to get it sorted out / verify my account info. At first I was like wtf happened, my account should be good? But I started worrying and the voice sounded like a legit robocall from a legit company, so I waited for a few more seconds while it put me on hold. Then I was like um is this someone trying to steal my account info? Hung up so I could Google the number and sure enough. Was not about to give out my account info to someone I had no reason to believe should be calling me. But I can see why so many others fell for it since I did think it was real for a sec. My bill is on autopay and also payment just went through a few days ago. I figured I could always find Verizon number myself if the call was legit and call them back. Also before I Googled I turned off my wifi to check if Verizon was working and it was.

Recording said my Acct had been deactivated. I pushed 2 to speak to someone. They asked for my zip code. I said i feel like this is a scam because my acct is paid in full. The guy stumbled on his words, and after a few seconds of silence I was put on hold without him letting me know this was going to happen. This is a scam- do not give info!

They said my Verizon account was deactivated. I think it said to reactivate press 1 and to talk to customer representative press 2. I pressed one, listened to hold music for about a minute, then they dropped the call. I can not see how this would be real, especially given all of these other negative ratings, I will block the number.
