Mr Gonzalez called posing as Verizon and asked if I ordered a iPhone....I said I did not and he proceeded to ‘help’ me get my account corrected. He must have been on Verizon webpage as me and he was asking that I read to him the codes Verizon texted me, so he could make more changes to the account. I immediately called Verizon and they did not call me and the scammers changed my mailing address, email address, password, and security question. They also added another person as a manager for my account. Got it all corrected and now there is an alert on my account so it would be more difficult for someone to do that in the future.

Told me I was valued Verizon customer and would get a 50 dollar gift card and a month or so paid for my bill. Asked me to press one if I wanted offer. I wanted to see where it was heading but took too long to press one and it hung up on me.

Verizon Valued Customer Reward (Scam call) reported by


The call started out with an automated attendant telling me that I have been a valued customer of Verizon Wireless for the past 2 years. As a reward, I was offered a $50 gift card and 2 months of free service. They asked for information such as my telephone number (why would they need that if they called me?), house number, account pin number, and the last 6 digits of my social security number. I put in fake information to see how far it would go and stopped at the question about my social security number. I hung up and called Verizon. Apparently, they have no such promotion going on at this time. Looks like I dodged the bullet given the previous reviews.

"Rep" called to say someone ordered phones on our account. My boyfriend, the main acct holder, answered. They knew both our names and some basic information. It was believable by my boyfriend as this was the first acct we got together, like a month ago. So... he thought it was legit, even though the text said not to give the temp password out and that verizon wouldnt ask for it. Well he did. Then the guy kept getting pushy asking for the pin so my boyfriend said he would prefer to call him back. Meanwhile, I am googling his number, which brought me here. The guy called back so many times we had to use my phone to call verizon and change our password before he could. People suck.

Sounded pretty legit. A man with a thick accent called saying someone in another state was try to buy iPhones on my account and they needed to verify my information. I did give them the temporary password, but I hung up before they had chance to change my pin. However, by the time I got a hold of my husband to tell him not to answer the call, he had already given them everything they needed. Spent an hour on the phone with Verizon fraud department. They had already ordered several iPhones and iPads on my account.

Claimed Verizon thought someone hacked my account and fraudulently added themselves (Juan) to the account. Somehow sent password reset message through Verizon. That text specifically said "Do not give this number to anyone, Verizon will never ask you for this number. Call if # if you did not request..." Hung up and called the number in the message. Sure enough, it's a phishing scam.......... Never give out the password reset number!

This guy spoke with a heavy accent claiming to be Verizon Wireless about an ad I published (I didn't) in Florida. Although he claimed to be calling from Verizon Wireless but his number was an 800 number and the company came up Tree Removal Fresno CA. I couldn't understand a word he said. Told him he was a scammer and hung up.

Called, already had access to our account, started by verifying info, reset my pin, then added himself as an authorized user to try to take over our account.

Exact same thing happened to me! He confirmed all of my information, so I just assumed it was legit. Said he was calling from the fraud department at Verizon and someone was trying to purchase phones on my account (at least one part of his story was true!). He ended up changing my pin, bought a phone and changed the contract on my account. I had to make two trips to the Verizon store and spend a couple of hours on the phone to straighten it out. People are terrible!!

This was a caller claiming to be an att rep, called all numbers on our plan, and attempted to get recovery information from us. Gained access to account through one of our users and changed passcode, added self as authorized user and tried to take control of the account in store. Jose Somethin. Don’t answer.

He asked for my zip code. Then, he went on to tell me that they were going to be working on Verizon lines and I might notice problems with my internet and texts. Also that I'd be receiving a 40% credit on my bill for next month.
