They have the exact same phone # as the electric company except they use 800 instead of the local area code. They have a recording of the electric company's prompt menu. They hung up on me when I told them that I have a paid bill in front of me. I then called the real electric company and they verified that it was a scam and my account was in good standing.

I got a call from this 1-800-272-9741 number this morning stating that I had a past due balance with Oklahoma Gas & Electric (OG&E). I called them back to ask why they thought I had a past due balance and it took me through a series of prompts. It knew that I had made a payment just days ago, but the system said I still owed 4 dollars. I never could get to a person through the prompts. So I decided to look up their number off the actual bill and it was the same #, just not 1-800. It was 405-272-9741. When I called OG&E, they claimed that the 1-800 number I had called was a scam. I told them if it was a scam, then that scam company had ALL Of the same prompts and knew how much I had just paid. I asked her if that was okay with OG&E that someone had gotten into their system and she basically told me that it happens and not to call anything that looks suspicious. I told them they should guard their system better if someone is in there knowing everything about their customers. She asked if I wanted to talk to their scam department and I said no. If they don't know or care, why should I? She confirmed my bill is current. So DON'T CALL THIS 1-800-272-9741. DO CALL 405-272-9741.

I was almost convinced it was real because they knew the address from the account#. That is crazy that OG&E doesn't care that their proprietary information(supposedly private customer information) is out there being used to scam its customers. I'm just glad my lights aren't going out.

I live in NC, so I’m pretty sure I don’t owe a San Antonio Electric company money. They were trying to scam my info and threatened to use legal action against me if I didn’t comply. I understand it’s likely a robo call using an existing number, but that’s not my problem so here it goes on the list.

It's OG&E electric co. There are people out there spoofing this # & using it to call other people. I don't know if it's possible even to stop a process like this.

O.G.&E. ( Oklahoma Gas and Electric ) ... calling to remind you that there is a past due amount on your bill. For all the silly people who marked this as FTC DNC, that only applies to telemarketers. You can not stop a company from calling you if you directly owe them money.
