Scammer pretending to be your ISP and saying your modem is having problems. Asked to install remote software on my computer. DO NOT INSTALL ANYTHING. They are attempting to hack you.

Someone with a Southeast Asian accent who identified himself as John Brown called. Caller ID said Comcast. He told me that my modem is no longer protected by the firewall and that unauthorized people recently connected to it to do potentially illegal things. He said my firewall protection was on low. Did I change it? If not, he was happy to report he blocked the bad users and has a solution so that it doesn't happen again. He gave me his "info" including a non toll free number. Supposedly he pinged my modem. When nothing happened he said it's because my firewall is off. He needs me to go to a computer to find my Xfinity account number and then download an app to show me who has been logging into my modem. I explained I have the Xfinity app on my phone. I checked and it shows me who logged in the past year. Nothing seems off. "John" said his app shows more info and will verify his contact info. I said I would just call customer service later. He said if I call it will only link me to a local office who won't have access to our conversation. After refusing again, he said if something bad happened it's on me and not them, that this is a recorded line. I said okay and hung up.

This is the 5th time they have called me. Randomly throughout the day. They claimed to be comcast, but I do not have a Comcast account. I said they are spam and to stop calling me. He stated no mam we are real. And I hung up and blocked

A person called and spoofed a real comcast number (Scam call) reported by


Person called from a comcast number they had spoofed and stated that my business account was at rik and changes had been made from my device. Interesting since we have been closed and few days and only I have access. Called the real comcast and put that call on three-way. Needless to say, it was a fake call and reported via a supervisor at Comcast. The nerve of people. I wonder how many people have fallen victim to this scam. It is sick.

Said they were with Xfinity and started asking about my modem, and whether I made changes or shared my wifi password with anyone. After I answered with "no", they hung up. I'm fairly certain this was a scam call, masked as Comcast/Xfinity.
