This is the American Expresses account management department (verified through their website). Unless somebody spoofed the number when they called you, it is not a scam call. Please don't post things screaming "SCAM" if you are not 100% sure that it is in fact a scam, you're screwing up things for people with legitimate issues that need resolved by making them paranoid.

They left a recorded message on my answering machine. It said American Express wants to discuss an important matter, so call back on 1800-592-1160. I called AMEX customer service on a known good telephone number and they told me that 1800-592-1160 is not one of their numbers. It is probably scammers wanting to get your personal information so they can steal your identity.
