calls all times of the day. If its legit how do you know? If its a scam how do you know? No message. If you answer theyll get your phone number & possibly more info from the internet on social accounts etc. Send a letter. So i dont answer at all. My home phone is in case I DIAL 911.. Caller ID said 'Visalia City Of' - then listed the number as Mobile. I live no where near Visalia. I listened to the voice mail and they, like others have said, stated that they were sorry about the power outage that occurred at *my home address* (really like to know how they got that) that never did occur. I could push a number to be unenrolled in their alerts - yeah, not falling for that. Anyway, SCE doesn't call you from a number that doesn't say Southern California Edison or SCE and certainly not a mobile number. When I hit send on this, I'll be phoning SCE to report.

UPDATE: Just got off the phone with Southern California Edison. The gentleman told me most likely a spoofed call (someone impersonating their number). I read him the voicemail that the recording had left - he didn't recognize the number or the outage number that was left in the message. I have received phone calls from Edison before and the caller ID always says Southern California Edison or SCE, NOT Visalia City Of - I've received updated recordings before during power outages and this recording didn't sound anything like the ones I've received before. When any company calls you, hang up and call them by the number that you KNOW is theirs and verify if they tried to contact you in anyway. Better safe than sorry people ;) As I was typing this the same number just tried calling again... Funny, this time it didn't leave a voicemail.

SCE announcing a power outage (Robocall) reported by


I listened to the message concerning a "power outage in your area that should be restored by 12pm". #1.There was no power outage or my landline wouldn't have worked. #2.The phone number should have been identified as being from "SCE", not "Toll-free Call". #3.A few hours later I received a call from the same number, telling me my service had been restored. Once again, caller ID tagged this number as a "Toll-free Call.

I was contacted originally with a separate number and they gave me this number to call... It was clearly foreign, and the guy on the line had NO idea what I was talking about but clearly was happy to take my money.... Dangerous call!

THIS US ACCURATE! I was called and told I had back payment on my bill and the only way to pay it immediately was to buy a “money pack” card at a grocery store to load my final amount and then to call back the number. I checked my bill and I had no backed payment history and he tried to scam me $293.43!!!! I knew something was sketchy when he kept telling me he would call me back for the confirmation number.
