Con Edison gives this phone number to customers to call Con Edison back. I don't know if Con Edison uses this number for outgoing calls from their offices. It is possible that if you get a call from this number, it could be a scam. If you get a call from this number, I'd hang up and call them back -- see if they actually called you.

The recording said that I would have my service shut off if I did not pay my bill. 1st point is that they called my CELL phone (my landline is the only number listed with Con Ed) . . . 2nd point is that my account is paid in full with ONTIME payments. This is DEF a Scam.

This number called MY REALTOR, as my house is for sale, and told them my electricity was going to be cut off because I haven’t paid my bill for months (first..why would ConEd contact my realtor?!). I logged into the Con Edison official website and it shows my account is active with no problems, all bills paid on time. I confirmed with a call to Con-Ed. Sadly, my elderly mother got nervous and called the scam number back. I hung up the phone quickly but alas they now have my house phone & have been calling every hour. I have blocked them now. DO NOT CALL THIS NUMBER BACK. Call an official Con-Ed phone number or log into your account directly.

this number is actually listed on the official ConEd monthly statement. Noting the over 50 negative ratings/reviews here is rather confusing. some of which are quite specific.

A man called and said he was from ConEd and was 30 minutes away with a work order to cut off the electricity to our building. Meanwhile, we are a tiny tenant in a large commercial building with no electricity bill. I told him he had the wrong number and he should do what he needs to do and he hung up with the words "alright you f*ing h0".

I allowed it to go to voicemail and it ran the full message saying it was Con Edison and my electricity would be turned off within 45 minutes if I did not call the number provided back or press 1 to speak to a representative or for more information. I did nothing but post the call publicly to my Facebook so people could be forewarned and my lights are still on well past 45 minutes. Between this, the Internal Revenue Service, the Social Security Department, My Credit Card provider, and the expired warranty on my non-existent car, I am in big trouble. I have been waiting for that parcel full of money from the United Nations Ambassador to help me out with all this for years.

Robo call claiming my services would be turned off for unpaid bill. Pressed 1 to speak to a rep just to play with them but was disconnected.

I get calls from clients. this call was a robo call saying that ConEd will disconnect service because of unpaid bills. Lies. My boss pays his bills like clockwork so I just hung up the phone without speaking to anyone.
