When I applied for social security, they acknowledged my application via email. The email stated I may receive a call from their office in Missouri. I missed the first call and redialed it. The automated message stated they were SSA in Missouri and would try to reach me again. So, the SSA does use email and make phone calls, not just communicate via postal services.

I received a call from this number on my cell phone. I answered the call. The caller said they were from SSA and needed to verify information that had been submitted. Without thinking, I went over the information with them. They called because of a discrepancy in my work history. We verified the information. I wasn't even thinking about it being a Saturday. I googled the number and I saw everything about this being a scam. I received a copy of the paperwork today which they said I would be receiving to retain for my records. This number is from the Workload Support Unit, Social Security Administration, Mid-America Program Service Center, PO Box 15368, Kansas City, MO 64106.
