This is a known and verified collector for the IRS. CONSERVICE. (Debt collector) reported by


CONSERVE. They are legit, but when in doubt, go to the IRS website and verify for yourself. The IRS lists them as a legit collector. You can also check your IRS balance on the website. Conserve also sends a letter in the mail detailing your IRS balance. Payment is made directly to the IRS. Unless you know you owe Uncle Sam some $$, do not ignore.

Said they were a third party debt collector for the IRS. Wanted me to confirm SS and address over the phone. I refused. Older woman, sounded like she was at home. Said I probably threw the letter out as trash, said that happens a lot. I said I’ll contact the IRS directly and she hung up on me.

The IRS does not use third-party collections and will not robocall you! Yes, always pay attention to their letters and ALWAYS pay them directly, but that will not stop these SPAM calls. -IRS employee

The IRS absolutely uses 3rd party collections. Ask for the name of the company and google it for yourself to verify. Or better yet, log into your IRS account and check for any outstanding balances. You don't want to ignore that bill.

Said they were calling for the IRS about a debt. I asked what the debt was. Can't answer. Wanted my name, address, and SS#. I asked what name address and SS they had on file. Couldn't answer. If I told them, they could let me know if they had that info because I had to prove this was me. Scam if they don't have that info. I said well give me a hint and I will tell you if you are right. She wouldn't.
