Robocall saying I was past due with so cal edison. Gave 1-866-365-8468 as a call back to keep from being disconnected. I called edison from the phone number on my bill which is different. All up to date with payments. This is a scam call.

FAKE NATIONAL GRID/SHUTTING OFF SERVICE (Scam call) reported by


They called my work and it was an automated call. They claimed that they were national grid and in 30-45 minutes my service was going to be terminated due to non payment. They said to call back this number(the one above) to make a payment to prevent my service from being interrupted. I did not call back I just googled the phone number and all of this came up. Do not give these people ANY information!

Caller with a very thick accent stated he was calling from the Department of Justice. I asked for his address he gave me the White House. Well I had him on the phone I Googled who the director of the doj is and he gave me the wrong name. I told him he was a scam artist and to leave me alone he tried to verify Social Security numbers I told him he had the wrong social security number he called me a liar. I told him that he's a crook and that I can hear all the people with a thick accent calling in the background and I know he's not with the doj do not take calls from this number

They called me for a payday loan from 2010....A) Don't they know he statute of limitations in FL.? B) Did not have a payday loan but they are filing charges of fraud ... again statute of limitations. What time tomorrow would be good to serve the papers, told them I would be available all day and when they got there, the sheriff would be available to assist them. Caller - Jessica (thick accent) told me she worked for Broward civil division and that an attorney - James Green from Brooklyn was filing the charges. She would not give me any contact information for Mr. Green or a call back number for her. She also has no manager. When I asked her directly "Do you work for Broward County FL. Courts?" her response was "civil division". This is a scam. I am not sure whether I have a hot date for tomorrow or not...

Said I Was being sued by the Inc. I asked who was Inc, they would not tell me who Inc was. They they knew my first name and last four digits of my sis number. Said they were delievering a summons and they needed to what time I was going to be home tomorrow. I told them I have no clue and the lady stated that I should of been contacted about this already, I told her nope never been informed about this. She got upset that I didn't know about this. So I told her I want to see this paperwork. And that I would be home after 11am tomorrow, and hung up. I called back about 15minutes later and got a voice mail of the doj department and to leave a message.

The same incident happened to me today a lady by the name of Sarah I think called and when I kept explaining I had no idea what she was talking about and then she kept asking about what time should they send me my subpoena and what I be home and told me about some Inc Law Firm and then I kept explaining I don't know what she's talking about so she transferred me two the law firm how she was able to transfer me like that is beyond me because she's a completely different company supposedly then that lady asked me to hold on and put me on hold and I accidentally hung up so the other lady called back and started being really rude I told her I was going to talk to her manager she told me to go ahead and I also explained I didn't have time for this because I need to get ready for work and she just started yelling at me and I was like Alright and then she hung up

They called and told me that I would be served with papers regarding a lawsuit that has been filed against me in NY. I'm in Utah-never been to NY. She got rude and I just explained I will call DOJ and clear this up myself, knowing it was BS! Second call this week. They speak broken English-from India or somewhere like that. Then they wonder why they have such a negative reputation! No Asian, Mexican, calls with these scams! Get a real job and stop robbing hard working citizens of their hard earned money!

They called me at work and called me by my first name not last. Said it was the Dept. of Justice and wanted to set up a time tomorrow between 1-4 to serve papers. I wonder what they'd do if you said yes, I'll meet you at the corner of such and such at 3:00 tomorrow. I started asking her questions and she got ignorant and I hung up. Hasn't called back.

So, the lady with broken English said she was with the Dept of Justice. The number was spoofed as the Dept of Justice. So, after I laughed at her for threatening me with court papers, I hung up and called the actual Dept of Justice. I spoke with a woman named Carol and she said absolutely not, they do not call and threaten with papers, they just show up with papers. She also indicated that this scam is highly illegal.

Thank you for this confirmation. They just called me and I hung up, saying they would transfer me to their supervisor to explain "some papers". I know DOJ or any Federal Government entity will not call anybody, they will send papers through the mail.

Threatened me with a court summons and had broken english. Sounded indian. When ask for details he started cussing me saying they will come to arrest me tomorrow. When I called the number back I got Nationwide Insurance recording. So they are spoofing the number making it show one thing on caller id and it belongs to another. SCAM SCAM SCAM

Received same call. Caller said that there were serving me tomorrow for a lawsuit that was filed over a debt. I asked for company name, address and a phone number I can contact them back. The caller said her name is was Jennifer Brown, had broken English and you could hear other people talking in background. I explain that I work in the courthouse and I can go check to see if I have a warrant and she hung up. When I tried to call back number kept clicking off. This definitely a scam. The number used was 18669654968.

Caller stated that I was being served civil litigation papers on the next day in reference to a supposed years old unpaid debt. They refused to tell me the debt collector's information, but they claimed to be connected with the USDOJ. They said that my original debt was between $200-$400. However, the civil case would bring judgement against me of nearly $7500. When I tried to ask any questions they just replied: "You've known about this." About midway through the call they begin to offer me the potential option of them dropping the case in exchange for money. They put who they called the "head attorney" on the phone. She offered to call me right back with details on my "out of court settlement." I agreed, and I contacted an attorney's office while waiting on the callback. The law secretary said he had no doubt it was a scam. When the "head attorney" called back I told her that I'd contacted my attorney and I would record future calls. She got very angry and said, "You've been running from this debt and now you're running again. We will catch you. God bless." She then hung up. In all, I spoke with three different "staff members." All three spoke very poor, broken English and sounded to be of Indian dialect. The two numbers they used were: 8663654968 3472930777

Caller said they were calling for INC a law firm. They said I'm being sued but couldn't tell me why. She gave me the last four ssn. I asked the lady name she said Sara Jones. I asked for number she said you should have it on your phone. I said I don't she said well you should it's not possible that you can't. I said let me call the BBB and I will call you back. I think we both hung up at same time.
