I got over 40 calls claiming to be City Bank where I have no acc (Financial services) reported by


All calls were automatic, left VM, came everyday at 14:15 for a month and a half while I was out of reach. I don’t have a city Bank account I know of.

I answered and a robot asked for my zip code. Hung up at this point as that is already too fishy for me. Googling the number sent me here. It does make sense they could have called though - I am late on my payment.

This is a legitimate call. I listened to the message, asking me to verify my name, and then I hung up. I called Citibank card services customer number, a different number, on a different phone. I was told that some mail had been returned to them and they asked to update my address. I did that.

First I didn’t respond to any questions their system was asking me, but chose to call back since that was one of the options. When I called back I was first suspicious when their system asked me to enter personal info to verify it was me. But when it gave me the option to identify my self with a phone number, I entered my home phone number, which is public info anyway. Their system immediately knew my Citi Card balance, last statement balance and last payment. It turned out it was really Citi Bank reminding me that a payment was due on 5/2. I actually made the payment but it took time until in posted. Bottom line: the call was legitimate.

ALWAYS CALLING...STUPID ROBOCALL...SAYING PAYMENT DUE...PAYMENT ALREADY MADE AND SENT AND RECIEVED AND AGREED TO AND ACCEPTED...FEDERAL LAW SAYS IF COMPANY OF ANY AND ALL KIND(EXCEPT FOR WATER, ELECTRIC, GAS, LANDLINE PHONES/IPS) ACCEPTS THE PAYMENT SENT, THEN THAT COMPANY HAS AGREED TO THAT PAYMENT FOR THAT MONTH AND CANNOT ADD ANY BALANCE OF PAYMENT THAT WAS DUE TO THE NEXT BILLING CYCLE...THEY CAN ONLY DO IT TO A COMPLETELY MISSED PAYMENT...ILLEGAL FOR THEM TO DO THIS, BUT NO ONE CARES ABOUT THEIR RIGHTS OR THE LAWS, SO ALL OTHERS GET SCREWED OVER THIS...REGARDLESS, PAYMENT MADE AND RECIEVED AND ACCEPTED AND AGREED TO. PLUS TOO MANY PEOPLE ARE SPOOFING PHONE NUMBERS TO MAKE IT A SCAM CALL. The automated system said it was about my citicard knew my name and asked more details. Of course, I didn't give them any information. I did however go online to make sure everything was fine with my account. It turns out the amount I sent was was less than the minimum payment. This was due to my auto pay from my back and a promotional apr running out. I was not charged a late fee and they were clearly contacting me to let me know about the problem. This is so much better than other companies who will charge a late fee the fist day it's late and also let your credit get ruined over a simple error.
