They called and left a message about a disability claim for a veteran in my household. The VA always contacts us directly and I am not sure who LHI is or why they called.

I called the VA and they stated LHI is contracted by the VA to make disability follow up appointments and that there was a claim request concerning my husbands disability in their system and I needed to call them back. WOW! What are we doing to our vets? We live 20 minutes from the VA hospital that has provided his care for over 20 years but appointments related to disability claims are being contracted out of the VA into the private sector obviously for LHI personal profit. In the past we always received written communication so I was leary about following up. Also, it's almost impossible to get in touch with anyone at the VA or LHI over the telephone.
