Person called using tired business tone, asking specifically using my name. She said that she was calling from Verizon and doing a survey to make certain that I was getting the best services and ten the best rate. When I continued to decline the survey, she wished me a pleasant day.

Claims to be Verizon Call Center. Sure, you can tell that my phone number belongs to Verizon based on the phone number. Verizon never calls anyhow - they send a text. Don't answer.

They've called a couple of times now. Should I Answer sent them straight to voice mail. Nobody spoke, though I heard office noise in the background. Just 90 seconds of nothing. No reason they wouldn't leave a message if they were legit.

Called and asked for someone on my plan who is not attributed to my phone. Asked me for my name. They should have my name already. They then asked for my password. Verizon won't need a password to look up account details. Obvious phishing scam.

This was a call from Verizon to evaluate my plan and suggest improvements. Caller knew all the details of my plan — what phones I had, rates I was paying, how long I'd been on this plan, etc. I am convinced it was legitimate (and I ended up paying less overall including getting a new phone).
