Robot type call with a pause between (Financial services) reported by


Robo type call where operator only picked up after a delay. Caller ID said Regions Bank, however we closed our account 9 years ago. Operator wanted to confirm address, dob, and SS. Huge red flags and I told my wife to hang up. She continued and asked for a call back number to confirm. I took phone from wife before she called back.

I have a Regions account in good standing and no issues. Had the number saved on my phone as a contact for Regions. Got a call from the TN and it was a robot asking me to put in acc info. I hung the call up and called Regions directly. They told me they were not trying to call me and my account was good. Although the number is a good Regions number, the call was obviously a spoofed call to try and get my acc info

Received 13 missed calls in 4 days. Leaves no message so it must not be important enough for me to return the call.

This call is from Regions Bank out of Alabama. They left a voicemail indicating that they had an important message and that it might involve a debt. They requested that I call an 800 number for details. I have never even heard of this bank and definitely have never used them. I researched them and found that they are a real bank but their customer reviews are not very good. My guess is that they're simply trolling for new business. Anytime I get a message from an unknown source and that message attempts to get my attention by using a threat (or even the hint of one), I know that the caller is unethical and needs to be blocked.

Maybe an unpopular view here: I owe Regions money because of atm nsf + overdraft protection. When I answer their collection calls I have not once had a negative experience with the person on the other end. Furthermore they have been remarkably willing to work with me on the payment arrangements, and even offered a hardship payment plan when I expressed I lost my job. I owe them money. They don't deserve a negative rating simply for that.
