Well, boy, is my face red. I'm taking a nap when my house phone rings from number (206)451-5153. I answer it and a robotic voice says, "We have been trying to get a hold of you. The IRS has filed a lawsuit against you and need pertinent information from you. Please call 844..." About that time I freaked out and hung up. I paced the floor wondering how did I get in so much trouble with the federal government after working for them for 30 1/2 years. I mean after all since I was 16, I've been filing income tax returns and getting money back I am rightfully owed. So I immediately ran to my computer and searched the internet. Wow, I've been scammed! Apparently the IRS doesn't: 1) Call people using robotic voices; 2) Use telephone numbers from Washington State; 3) File lawsuits against people; and 4) When you do call the number they provide, a man from India doesn't answer the phone with other men in the background with the same accent telling people they owe the United States of America Internal Revenue Service money.

Same experience as below. The guy on the other end couldn't hear me, but I heard a guy in the background with a thick Indian accent telling someone else on a different line to pay with cash. I just hung up. Scam. Thank you to the person who posted this before me, so I had a heads up. IRS would notify us by mail. There would definitely be a paper trail.

robocall stating that the IRS was filing a law suit against me and that I needed to call the same number to make payment. When I did call (from a different phone than the one they contacted) a person with a very thick indian accent asked me for the phone number they had initially called so they could "look me up". since the IRS does not robocall, use phone numbers to look up tax information, and I'm 99.9% certain I don't owe a dime, I decided to hang up and report them. Be warned!!!

Called me and left a voicemail that the irs is filling a lawsuit against me, called back and this person with a thick indian accent was giving me all the information about my arrest... I freaked out so he offered me an option to go by some tax papers (don't know exactly) from a pharmacy for the amount that I owed $2000, when I asked for a paper trail he said that he can't send me anything only my arrest warrant. If I disconnect the line then they will be arresting me. After starting to realizing what was going on I hang up, it was a total scam. If they want to arrest me that's fine but without any legal official papers from the irs I am not giving them any money no matter who is on the phone (he said he was detective xyz) DON'T FALL FOR THIS, IT'S A SCAM
