Called me to verify that I hard ordered a big-ticket item from Amazon. Originally I didn't pick up because they called super early in the morning and I was asleep. Kept calling. Like 15 calls in the space of 20 minutes. When I finally woke up, heard an Indian accent (which explains why he thought I was awake and was so insistent; time zone difference), and immediately hung up. Turns out it was the real Amazon, which I found out when I called their customer service number. The problem is that HE KEPT CALLING repeatedly; coupled with the stereotype of Indian scammers made me highly suspicious. Amazon really needs a better policy in regards to this.

I made an unusual order in Amazon (unusual in my shopping record). Some minutes after I made my order, this number called me. I didn't answer the first call, but I picked their second try. A woman with a latin accent, and in spanish, asked for me by my name (I live in Mexico). She said she called from Amazon. We had some trouble with the quality of the call, some interference. I told her I could not hear her. She asked for a moment and moved, moved between what it sounded like boxes in a big warehouse (echo). She told me she just wanted to confirm my order, with the exact amount. I told her I wasn't confortable with this call and that I didn't trust her. If there is something to clarify, please send me an e-mail, I asked. She replied that she would send me an e-mail, with some doubt in her voice. We finished the call. I do not think this is Amazon. I changed passwords and got some antivirus.

They just ask basic info of the Amazon account; the address, what was your last buy/product, last 4 digits of the registered card... and done, they unblock my amazon account in 1 hour after the call. Im from Mexico and first I was surprised when I investigated about this number and see negative comments about scam, but Im glad is not the case", and the person how attend me was very kind

I got four phone calls in one day and multiple voicemails from this phone number. Two different people. Male and female both with Indian accents. They said they were verifying a large purchase on my credit card from Amazon and asked for my name. I spoke to Amazon directly and they stated that they will NEVER contact a customer and ask for information over the phone.

Me hicieron una llamada de este número a las 20:24 hrs. (un horario un poco inusual). Sin embargo, la persona de identificó como una empleado de Amazon y solo me preguntó si yo realicé una compra en el sitio de Amazon y el monto exacto que pagué. Respondí que si, que yo había hecho la compra. A lo que el empleado respondió que gracias y terminó la llamada. No me solicitó más información o datos personales.

Someone tried to use my card to purchase computer parts. Amazon caught it because my card number, which they tried to use is tied to my Amazon account, and they tried to place the order outside of my Amazon account. The caller NEVER asked for confidential information and only provided the last 4 digits of my card number to verify the purchase was bogus. It was flagged as fraudulent. They informed me the order would be cancelled and an email would be sent to the email address associate to my Amazon account confirming the cancellation. 2 minutes later - the email arrived and it was indeed from Amazon.

This is NOT Amazon, a simple call to Amazon will confirm that. That is what I did and they assured me, it is not them.

Call came from this number; Man with Indian accent stated that it was Amazon and that there was an attempt to purchase a $15 amazon gift card using my american express card. He said that the purchase attempt was done an an Amazon account that was not mine. I believe that he verified the last 4 digits of the card, and those numbers were correct. Thinking back, I do not recall if he ever asked or verified my name. He was pretty quick to get off the phone. When I tried to recap what he said had happened, he then REALLY tried to get rid of me and just kept quickly saying that they would just cancel the order. Then hung up. I immediately called Am Ex and they did NOT have an attempted purchase (which they say records immediately at the time of the attempt) and I had them disable that card and issue another. American Express thanked me for calling so quickly.
